Privacy Policy

Holding the Horizon is a small, independent resource. We collect as little data as possible, and we never sell it. This policy explains what we hold, why, and the control you have over it.
What we collect
Account details. When you sign up to post in the forums, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. Your email is never shown publicly.
Display name. You choose an anonymous display name when you join. This name, not your email, is what other members see next to your posts and replies. Please do not use your real name or include identifying details in it.
Forum content. Anything you post in the community forums, threads and replies, is stored so it can be shown to other visitors. The forums are publicly readable, so treat everything you post as public.
Community invite requests. If you request an invitation, we store the email address you give us so we can contact you.
Email confirmation
When you create an account, we send a confirmation email to the address you provided. Your account cannot post until the address is confirmed. This helps prevent spam accounts and protects other members.
We only email you about your account, confirmations, sign-in links, and replies to messages you send us. We do not run marketing lists.
How we use your data
- To run your account and let you sign in.
- To display your posts under your chosen display name.
- To moderate the forums and keep them safe and free of spam.
- To respond if you contact us.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
A note about what you share
The forums exist so partners can speak honestly. Please remember that anything you post can be read by anyone on the internet. Avoid including your real name, your partner's name, your location, workplace, or any detail that could identify you or someone else. If a post of yours contains something you regret sharing, contact us and we will remove it.
Moderation and account approval
New accounts are approved by a moderator before they can post. Posts and replies can be removed if they break our community rules. Moderators can see the email address linked to an account solely for moderation purposes.
Your rights
You can update your display name and password at any time from your account page. You can also ask us to:
- Show you what data we hold about you.
- Correct or delete your account.
- Remove specific posts you have made.
To do any of these, email us at hello@holdingthehorizon.com. We aim to respond within 7 days.
Where data is stored
Account and forum data is stored securely with our hosting provider on encrypted infrastructure. We keep data only for as long as your account is active or the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will post a notice in the community before the change takes effect.
